Pat Utomi has responded to recent accusations from Bayo Onanuga, who claimed that Utomi is involved in organizing protests planned for August.
In a Twitter post, Utomi expressed surprise and disappointment at the accusation, stating he was unaware of any such protests until recently.
Utomi clarified that he has been based in Washington DC for months, working on a fellowship and a book project.

He only learned about the potential protests after a conversation with a senior civil servant in Abuja, who warned him of possible disruptions due to the planned demonstrations.
He challenged Onanuga to provide evidence for his claims, stating that he has nothing against protests as they are a legitimate democratic tool.
Utomi mentioned his past participation in various protests, including those supporting the EndSARS movement and marching after the June 12 elections annulment.
Utomi concluded by saying that if he were involved in the August protests, he would proudly acknowledge it, rather than waiting for Onanuga’s accusations.
