Nigerian entertainer and activist Charly Boy has shared his thoughts after a picture of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, waiting at an airport surfaced online.
The image, which shows Amaechi sitting in the departure lounge at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, prompted Charly Boy to reflect on the transient nature of power.
Charly Boy’s message, titled “Time & Tides: Nigerian Mumu Leaders,” highlighted the temporary nature of political authority.
He spoke on the changes that follow the end of a political tenure, emphasizing how the trappings of power quickly disappear:
1. The hypocrites are gone.
2. The sycophants are gone.
3. The bootlickers are gone.
4. The MOPOL security men are gone.
5. DSS are withdrawn.
6. Soldiers are re-assigned.
7. FAAN staff no longer shake or shiver at your presence.
8. You no longer have access to Rivers State aircraft.
9. You cannot afford to charter an aircraft from your personal income.
Charly Boy recounted how Amaechi had to wait in the same departure lounge as him, an “Alagbado man,” for an aircraft that was delayed for an hour.
He used this scenario to remind current officeholders that any position of power they hold is temporary and should not lead them to believe they are superior to others.
“Whatever position you occupy presently that makes you believe that you are superior to your colleagues, please remember that it is temporary. Power is transient,” Charly Boy concluded.
