There was a mild tension and protest in Zamfara State after eid, where a worshiper was allegedly killed by a suspected operative of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), who was said to be chasing hooligans.
The security operative was then immediately attacked by angry youths in the affected area, who attempted to take action on their hands.
The incident happened at a place close to the Eid praying ground in Gusau, Zamfa state capital, which later degenerated into protest and unrest in the area that took long time before calm returned.
It was reported that the angry youths burnt down NSCDS vehicle in retaliation.
The Police spoke person in Zamfara State, ASP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incidence, insisting that they’re carrying out thorough investigation.
On their own part, the NSCDC through spokesperson in Zamfara, Ikor Oche, denied the allegation, saying that they only heard the gunshot from their station during the eid prayer.
