The official residence of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh has been looted and vandalized by thousands of protesters.
This incident occurred following Hasina’s resignation on Monday, a response to intense and deadly protests that have rocked the nation in recent weeks.
Hasina, aged 76, reportedly fled to Tripura, India, using a military helicopter alongside her sister.

The resignation and subsequent escape come in the wake of mass protests against a controversial government policy.
The policy in question reserved 30 percent of government jobs for relatives of veterans from Bangladesh’s War of Independence in 1971.
The protests led to chaotic scenes in Dhaka, with demonstrators seizing various personal items from Hasina’s residence, including underwear, kitchen utensils, furniture, and electronics.
Some images circulating online show a man wearing a saree and carrying a bucket of clothes, while another shows a young man holding a purple blouse.

In response to the turmoil, Bangladesh’s Army Chief, Waker-Uz-Zaman, announced the formation of an interim government, taking full responsibility for the situation.
Dressed in military attire, he addressed the nation on state television, expressing hope that his intervention would restore order and halt the violence that has plagued the country.
