Following President Joe Biden’s unexpected announcement to not seek re-election, Nigerian political commentator Reno Omokri took to Twitter to express his views.

Omokri drew parallels between Biden’s decision and the actions of Nigerian politician Peter Obi, criticizing Obi’s choices during the 2023 Nigerian elections.

Omokri argued that Obi should have followed Biden’s example of prioritizing the greater good over personal ambition.

He contended that Obi’s participation in the 2023 election only served to divide the opposition and weaken their chances against the ruling party.

In his tweet, Omokri stated, “Joe Biden has just done what Peter Obi ought to have done in 2023.

Peter Obi had no chance in 2023 and has even less of a chance in 2027 after his misadventure where he lied about a subsisting court verdict ordering the release of Nnamdi Kanu and his leaked ‘Yes Daddy’ audio.”

He continued to criticize Obi, calling him “an ungrateful character, blinded by ambition” and accusing him of dividing the opposition vote, which Omokri believes led to Atiku Abubakar’s loss.

He expressed regret over his role in making Obi Atiku’s running mate in 2019 and apologized to Atiku Abubakar.

Omokri’s comments highlighted his belief that Obi’s actions were detrimental to the opposition’s success and criticized Obi’s leadership and decisions during his time in office.

He concluded by challenging Obi to run in 2027, vowing to retire from politics if Obi receives the same level of support.
