Imo residents ignored the weekly’sit-at-home’ directive yesterday to attend the inauguration of Hope Uzodimma’s second term as governor of the state.
The Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri was a hive of activity as Uzodinma, who won the gubernatorial election on November 11, 2023, was sworn in for a second term in office alongside his Deputy, Lady Ihuoma Chinyere Ekomaru, by the State Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Chukwuemeka-Chikeka.
President Bola Tinubu congratulated Uzodinma, his deputy, and the people of Imo, saying the state is safe because Uzodinma paid attention to the state’s internal security arrangements.
“Do not worry, with me here is Hope,” the president says. A genuine ray of hope. I assure you that your children will receive an adequate education. Healthcare will be given additional resources and attention.
“The things you enjoy here will be better in comparison, and we will work hard.”Before now, each of us was terrified of visiting Imo State. But Imo is now safe, cheerful, and ready for business. What we need to do is collaborate; join hands and pay attention to our internal security. In addition, it is Armed Forces Remembrance Day.”

He stated that the next four years of his presidency would be devoted to expanding the shared prosperity mantra through enormous infrastructure construction.
He underlined that his government’s strategy is based on a 10-year development plan that has the potential to transform the state into a self-sufficient state.
