Former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has described the declaration of state of emergency by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State as a dangerous step.
The national leader of the Kwankwasiyya, Kwankwaso, said he is strongly against the action taking, which he said will set a very “bad precedent that will not be good for our democracy.”
Kwankwaso said this in a statement he personally released on Thursday.
He expressed concern over the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all elected state legislators, which he described as “a clear overreach of executive power.”
Kwankwaso said he was initially silent having known that the action by the president will materialize except after the ratification of the national Assembly.
He however said the national assembly is a rubber stamp, that does all the bidding of the executive.
