Osarodion Ogie, who has served as the Secretary to the Edo State Government, has stepped down from his position to focus on his political aspirations.
His resignation, effective from August 9, 2024, aligns with the legal requirement for political appointees who intend to run for office to step down at least 30 days before an election.

Ogie is set to be the running mate for Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.
In reflecting on his decision, Ogie emphasized that his resignation was a necessary step to fully engage in his campaign as a deputy governorship candidate in Edo State.
He stated, “My resignation is in fulfilment of this requirement that I had to resign to face my deputy governorship ambition in the forthcoming election in the state.”
