The Commissioner of Police, Kano command has in Wednesday confirmed six persons dead after the Kano Mosque incidence.
First Post reports that a 38-year-old man, Shafi’u Abubakar , had set a mosque in Kano ablaze allegedly over inheritance sharing misunderstanding.
The incidence occurred in Gadan village of Gezawa Local Government of Kano State.
The commissioner in a telephone chat with News Agency of Nigeria said the suspect is in theur custody, and has given reason for his action.
CO Gumel added that six out of the 24 victims died on Wednesday night.
The incidence, which occurred during dawn prayer, leaves 24 people, mostly elderly and children injured.
The suspect is said to have used petrol bomb to ignite the fire, which burnt down the Mosque.
The CP said preliminary investigation shows that the suspect carried out the attack over a family feud concerning inheritance.
