Tennis: Nigerian Aruna beat world number 5 in Doha

World No. 16 Quadri Aruna cameback from a 2-0 deficit to defeat World No. 5 Hugo Calderano 2-3 (11-7, 11-2, 9-11, 10-12, 10-12) in Men’s Singles Round of 16 at the WTTF Finals Men Doha 2023.

It is worthy of note that Calderano sent Aruna packing at the 2023 ITTF Singapore Smash quarterfinals but the African best table tennis player has returned the favour this time.

The 35-year old will now face the winner between Fan Zhendong (World No. 1) and Darko Jorgic (World No. 14) in quarterfinal.
