At least five police officers have lost their lives during an ambush by bandits in Jibia LGA, Katsina State.
The officers were attacked while returning from duty in Zandam village to Jibia council headquarters last Sunday.
According to reports, four officers were fatally shot at the scene, while the fifth succumbed to injuries at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina.
The bandits seized five AK-47 rifles belonging to the slain officers following the attack.
Efforts to obtain a response from the Katsina Police Command are ongoing.
Security reports have identified the attack location as a high-risk area, cautioning against travel along the highway due to recent intensification of banditry despite government efforts to combat it.
