The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the results for the May/June 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released on Monday, August 12.

A total of 1,814,344 students from 22,229 secondary schools participated in this year’s examination.

WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, revealed that Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of National Office (HNO), will officially announce the results at the Yaba headquarters on the specified date.

Earlier in April 2024, Dangut noted that among the 1.8 million candidates, 902,328 were male and 912,016 were female.

The examination covered 76 subjects through 197 papers and was supervised by approximately 30,000 teachers.

The release of these results is anticipated to benefit candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges for the 2023/2024 academic year.

Many of these candidates sat for the exam while awaiting results from previous sessions.

Several institutions, including private ones, have already commenced their admission processes, with dates set for Post-UTME screenings and tests.

According to Dangut, the results will be available 45 days after the final paper, with certificates to be printed and distributed to schools within 90 days.

Additionally, digital copies of the certificates will be accessible through the digital certificate platform.
