Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is presently being held at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja.
His arrest followed a late-night operation carried out by EFCC operatives in Lokoja.
Contrary to initial reports from Bello’s camp suggesting he voluntarily responded to the EFCC’s summons, sources at the Commission disclosed that he was actually trailed and apprehended around midnight.
“Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is currently at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Abuja. He was arrested in Lokoja, with operatives trailing and apprehending him at midnight,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Ohiare Michael, the Director of Yahaya Bello’s Media Office, had previously stated that the former governor had simply honored the invitation from the EFCC.
