Yoruba League Of Imam Rejects Sultan’s Leadership

Yoruba league of afas and Imams have rejected the continued leadership of NSCIA – Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs when it comes to Ramadan Henceforth.

The League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland has announced that Ramadan 1446 AH (2025) will begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

This is a break away from the tradition as Sultan Of Sokoto is forced on everyone as their Amir and only one to declare when Ramadan starts and ends. Meanwhile, it is the sighting of moon that marks the beginning of Ramadan.

For Days now, Yorubas who believes Sultan of Sokoto is their leader are slugging it out with the Yorubas who don’t.

Sultan of Sokoto is traditionally the Amir of Nigerian Muslims, where anything regarding Islam, he’s seen as a leader.
