Former Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and current National Chairman of APC has said only Attorney General and EFCC has the power to prosecute him over bribery allegations.
Ganduje made this known in a statement by his aide, insisting that the Kano Governor and state anti-corruption agency doe not have the right to brobe him.
Kano State Government is probing allege misappropriation and bribery of $413,000 and N1.38billion.
The APC Chair however called on his successor, the incumbent governor Abba Kabir Yusuf governor, Yusuf Abba, to focus on bringing good governance to the state rather than wasting time on what he described as “on a futile attempt” to drag his name in the mud.
He said in a statement, “ They failed to take judicial notice of the recent pronouncement of the Federal High Court in Kano, which ruled that the so-called offence I am being accused of is a federal offence that can only be prosecuted by the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.”
The Kano government had earlier formed a commission of enquiry to investigate allege financial miss appropriation and political violences within the time frame of Ganduje’s administration.
The Kano government also charged Ganduje, his wife and some companies allege connected to him over bribery and other financial infractions.
