Barrister Felix Morka, the APC’s national press secretary, said in a statement on Monday, on the occasion of Akande’s 85th birthday, that the former governor of Osun State is a party unifier.
Remember that the APC was created in 2013, and to meet the party’s registration requirements, stakeholders from the merging parties convened in Abuja and nominated Akande as interim national chairman.
Similarly, Abbas Tajuddeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, stated that the solid foundation created by Akande and others has helped the party remain in power since 2015.
He made the remark in a statement on Monday, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, to celebrate Akande’s 85th birthday.
He praised Akande for his role as a founding father of the ruling party, calling him as an elder statesman, a political mentor to many, and an inspiration to the ruling elite.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his part, praised Akande as a proponent of good governance and an example of true federalism.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement released yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, stated that the APC chieftain is a fearless and honest leader who has had a significant influence on the lives of many Nigerians via politics and government.
