Former governor of Rivers state, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has described the proclamation of emergency rule president Bola Ahmed Tinubu rule declaration in Rivers State as “illegal power grab”.
Amaechi said is it an attempt to “thwart people’s will which cannot stand.”
Recall that Tinubu had on Tuesday declared state of emergency in Rivers, there by suspended of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, for six months over what he described as lack of government in the state.
Many lawyers and pundits have rejected the emergency, with many describing it as a rape of democracy.
Rotimi Amaechi was a former boss to the present minister of Abuja, Nyesom Wike before they fall apart.
