Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, was allegedly killed by her husband, Thomas, 41, who strangled her, dismembered her with a jigsaw, and then pureed her in a blender.
The 38-year-old model’s body was discovered in February in Binningen, near Basel, Switzerland.
Thomas, who has admitted to the crime, had his appeal for release from custody rejected by the Federal Court in Lausanne. The investigation has revealed that Thomas may have been suffering from mental illness.
Kristina, a mother of two, was allegedly killed after an argument in which she reportedly approached Thomas with a knife.
Their relationship had been troubled for months, with previous police reports of domestic violence.
Investigators noted Thomas’s high level of criminal behavior, lack of empathy, and attempts to cover up the crime.
They described him as having “sadistic-sociopathic traits.” Prosecutors report that Thomas strangled Kristina before dismembering her.
Kristina, originally from Binningen with Serbian heritage, had transitioned from modeling to working as a catwalk coach and training Miss Switzerland candidates.
