During a courtesy visit to the managing director of the agency, Malam Ali M. Ali, in Abuja, British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomerry, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria.

“It’s wonderful that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are coming to Nigeria,” he remarked, “and I understand that they were invited by Defence Headquarters.”

However, their visit is not official; rather, it is a private one.

Thus, their project is neither organised or facilitated by the British High Commission.

“On this visit, they are not representing the work of His Majesty’s Government.”

On May 8, Prince Harry is anticipated to begin the voyage by attending the Invictus Games’ tenth anniversary ceremony at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Soon after, Meghan will go to Nigeria with him to participate in a number of events that celebrate the resilience of military personnel and promote cross-cultural understanding.

The couple’s schedule includes stops at sports facilities, military rehabilitation centres, and meetings with neighbourhood groups that promote the welfare of veterans.

They will also participate in talks on various subjects with local authorities and visit cultural activities.
Prince Harry’s visit to Nigeria is particularly significant because it demonstrates his commitment to the Invictus Games, an international athletic competition for ill, injured, and wounded service members.

Five hundred competitors representing twenty-one nations competed in the Invictus Games held in Germany last year.

Israel, Colombia, and Nigeria were represented, and it was their first time in the competition.

Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, has stated that his country is keen to host the games in the future, demonstrating its continued commitment to encouraging inclusion and sportsmanship.

Meghan and Harry showed their support and friendship for Team Nigeria by spending special moments with them during the Invictus Games in Germany.

Prince Harry made light of the friendly rivalry between him and Meghan, particularly since the latter has learned of her Nigerian ancestry.

Meghan has a strong connection to Nigeria; her genealogy test indicates that she is 43 percent Nigerian, which she disclosed on her podcast Archetypes.

The Duchess’s relationship with the Nigerian people is further cemented by this disclosure, which promotes a feeling of common identity and belonging.
