Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeruka Onyejeocha, on Friday announced that the new national minimum wage template will soon be released following final adjustments.
A tripartite committee, which includes representatives from organized labor, the private sector, and the government, is set to finalize these adjustments with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
During a town hall meeting hosted by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja, Onyejeocha indicated that while there have been delays in payment due to pending adjustments, discussions are actively ongoing.
The minister clarified that the federal government is not responsible for these delays, attributing them to the labour side’s lack of finalization.
The minister stressed that the primary role of the ministry is to promote decent work conditions and maintain industrial harmony to support national growth and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She reassured that once the committee concludes its meetings and figures are established, payments will commence promptly.
In related news, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Olayemi Cardoso, represented by Omolola Adegbenga, emphasized the importance of recent policy decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies, for the country’s development.
Cardoso urged Nigerians to remain patient, as the administration’s efforts are aimed at long-term progress.
