Plateau: Fulani express concern about men in uniform attacking them

Communities of Fulani people in Plateau State’s Bokkos LGA have expressed concern over attacks on their members by individuals posing as military.
They reported that the males who were constantly present also arrived in large numbers to their locations dressed as soldiers, with the intention of attacking and frequently killing.

The commander of Sector 5, Operation Safe Haven, Lt. Col. Isaac Indiorghwer, paid a condolence visit to the family of the 17-year-old herder who was fatally stabbed by as-yet-unidentified thugs in the Mbar town of Bokkos on Sunday, which prompted the Fulani, who are primarily herders.

Shagari Abdullahi, a Fulani leader in the area, complained to the sector commander about some of his concerns regarding Operation Rainbow’s actions against his members and the isolated killings that have occurred in the Bokkos general area. He also called on the Nigerian Army to take action to address these issues.
In response, the sector commander gave the herders assurances about the army’s resolve to address the issues that the people of Bokkos are currently suffering on a general basis.

The commander promised the communities that every effort would be made to address the issues, even if he acknowledged that some evil people use army uniforms to commit crimes. He also mentioned that he would meet with Operation Rainbow to discuss the topic.
