Reps approve N61.55bn supplementary budget for FCT

A supplementary budget of N61.55 billion has been approved by the House of Representatives for the FCT for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023.

Yesterday in plenary, the 2023 Supplementary Appropriations Bill for the FCT was approved after passing through the third reading.

Furthermore, it followed the deliberations on the report of the House Committee on FCT, which was led by the Honourable Aliyu Betara, regarding “a bill for an act to authorise the issuance of N61,553,778.260 from the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s statutory revenue fund of the Federal Capital Territory Administration Account.”

N12.90 billion of the approved total is designated for overhead costs (recurring expenditures), with the remaining N48.65 billion designated for capital initiatives.

FCT Administration received N2.2 billion, FCT Human Resources Management Department was allocated N3.3 billion, Department of Information and Communication was allocated N2.8 billion, and Legal Secretariat was allocated N1 billion from the overhead expenditures.

The Abuja Environmental Protection Board requires N1.5 billion, the Facilities Maintenance and Management Department requires N1.6 billion, and the Satellite Towns Development Department requires N500 million.

N30.54 billion was allocated to Engineering Services (FCDA), N15.11 billion to Public Buildings (FCDA), and N3 billion to Bus Rapid Transit and Transport Regulations (BRT&TR) for the capital expenditure.
