President Bola Tinubu will lead his inaugural Council of State meeting today, August 13, 2024.
This session will be held in the executive council chamber at the presidential villa.
The Council of State, which the president chairs with the vice-president serving as deputy chair, is a key advisory body to the executive branch on policy matters.
Its members include former presidents, ex-chief justices of Nigeria, the president of the Senate, the speaker of the House of Representatives, governors, and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

Scheduled for noon, today’s meeting will focus on critical national issues such as food security, national security, and economic policies.
This meeting follows recent nationwide protests by youths addressing Nigeria’s severe cost of living crisis.
Since President Tinubu’s administration began in 2023, food inflation has surged significantly across the country.
