Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced that he will no longer support Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in his political journey.
Wike made this known during a television interview, stating that despite his efforts in helping build the political structure that elevated Fubara, the governor has turned against him.
He emphasized that his contributions, including outreach to various communities, played a significant role in Fubara’s rise but have now been met with false accusations of financial demands.
Wike also clarified that his disagreement with Fubara is not hindering the development of Rivers State.
He mentioned that he has no desire to interfere with governance, recalling that he faced no internal conflicts during his tenure as governor.
Additionally, Wike revealed that both the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Fubara had encouraged him to accept the ministerial position offered by President Bola Tinubu.
Before accepting the appointment, Wike stated that he sought approval from the PDP at multiple levels, including the national, zonal, and state branches, all of which supported his decision.
